Originally opened in the spring of 1997 in the Auburn-John R Square Shopping Plaza, the store occupied 30,124 sq. ft. of the former (A&P) building which it shared with then next door neighbor “Whirley Ball”. High shopper volume and strong donor support led to the stores expansion in 2003, which increased its size to 40,213 sq. ft.  At that time it took on the distinction of being the largest Salvation Army Thrift Store in the country.  In 2007 the sales floor was increased further when a small boutique area was added by reclaiming space once used for a training room.  Additional remodeling, executed in the spring of 2009 was done as both a matter of maintenance, and to keep pace with shopping trends.  This expansive store has 7 fitting rooms, plenty of free parking and a convenient donation drop off center located at the rear of the building.  It provides employment to 50 people who are assisted regularly by 15 ARC Program beneficiaries and 4 volunteers.

Special events held as ’Rochester Hills Exclusive’ through the years include Jewelry Sales (2002 and 2005), Bridal Shows and Sales (2004 and 2006.  Most notably, an Antiques and Collectibles Auction, held annually in the spring at this site marked its 5th year in 2009.

This used to be my favorite store, but the high prices and clutered aisles have turned this into one of my least visited stores.
SALLY\'S IS THE BEST!

We have shopped there weekly or more since it opened ... friends of ours come from way far away to get great deals, including great leather coats for $1!! you have to know what you\'re doing and learn the \"ropes\" of the place, and there are many awesome deals to be had. You people who keep bitching about the prices, please go somewhere like Kohl\'s or Meijer\'s and get those great deals, or better yet! Maybe you better go to Walmart where you get the cheapest crap there is to be found! I\'m sorry, but I will defend \"My\" Sally\'s (yes, we call it \"Sally\'s Boutique\" .. so for those who think it has \"boutique\" prices, so be it) I don\'t even shop at \"real\" stores because why bother?
Love this Rochester Hills Sally\'s and all the people who work there are very nice and friendly, even after they\'ve worked for hours and hours and dealt with people griping about everything. Want garage sale prices? Go to them. Thanks!

This store is much to expensive and the front end is slow VERY sloppy with all those bins cluttering up the font end.

I also agree with the others that the pricing is just ridiculous. This didn\'t happen until after they expanded years ago. I still do find deals and \"treasures\". I just tend to go on the 5 for 5 days and only buy those color tag items. Same for the 50% off colored tags. What gets me, too, is that you see items that are stained/with holes/missing buttons etc. still marked at $4.99 and higher. There doesn\'t seem to be any screening process. If it comes in the back, it gets a hanger and taken to the front. I\'ll still keep shopping there, but I\'ve found that I spend alot less money than I used to. And I don\'t visit as often.
Wonderful experience

This is the cleanest, nicest thrift store I\'ve visited. The restrooms were immaculate and tastefully decorated too! The staff was polite and helpful and seemed to have a good sense of comraderie with themselves. I will definitely visit more often. I didn\'t find it pricey and with the in-store specials there were certainly deals to be had.

Not impressed with this store, way overpriced on soso brand names. The worst was listening to a talk radio show about Tiger Woods sex addiction & women with \"big boobs\" Come on isn\'t this suppose to be a family store. Very offensive to hear this while I am shopping.
always find something good!

I was very surprised to see such low ratings for this store! Besides the Oxford store, this is my favorite one because I always find a treasure. They have a good selection of items, it\'s big, and organized. I buy and sell on Ebay and I find the prices fine and comparable. Checkout sometimes slow on busy days, one or two lines only. I have relatives that travel 30 miles to go to this store. Don\'t let a couple low ratings scare you from this store!
wow, rude...

The girl was mad that I had a coupon to save 50% on my entire purchase. I could see it in her eyes, and she was very quick to mention that it didn\'t include white tags, even though I hadn\'t any white tags on the counter...such a shame that they are like this at this location, the only thing I can think of is that each Sal store gets \"points\" if you will in their region when they have the highest sales. I can\'t think of any other reason why she was so rude about a coupon, it was like I was asking for the stuff for free, when my total amount spent was still near $30 after the coupon!

Both of these reviews echo my sentiments exactly. $40 for a Columbia winter coat? $7.99 for USED Rustler/Lee jeans? I too have donated many items over the years to this store...and for them to charge \"boutique\" prices in this recession era is a slap in the face. If it weren\'t for the occasional sale, this store would be useless. The empty parking lot during the week tells it all.
A terrible shame!

We\'ve hit a rough patch, so I came here to purchase clothes for the kids. I am shocked and angry at the outrageous prices. I was under the impression that the donations I made over the years were sold at low prices to help out the people who needed a bit of a break in the community. I will go elsewhere to make donations of any kind in the future. Just to be clear, Their prices for old, used, and frankly dirty goods are a bit higher than one can expect to pay at Target. Much higer than Wal-Mart. How is this helping and healing the community? I will go to the Childrens Place sale, and save some money.

Nice store but way to pricey. Seem to think they are some kind of fancy boutique versus a Salvation Army which is supposed to help people who can\'t afford to shop at a regular department store.
