Dr. Harrison U. Igwe is the Director of Program Services at Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center with responsibility for the coordination and development of rehabilitation program. This includes professional and administrative supervision of counseling and para-professional staff, and individual and group counseling sessions that assist beneficiaries to understand and overcome social and emotional problems.

Dr. Igwe is a fourth generation Salvationist. He has been employed by The Salvation Army ARC for twenty-nine years, and the Director of Program Services at the Southeast Michigan ARC, since 2003. He started his initial employment with the ARC in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1985.

Dr. Harrison U. Igwe obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (Cum Laude), majoring in Business Administration from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR. He obtained his Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and his Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He obtained his doctorate degree (majoring in professional counseling) from Walden University, submitting a paper on “Resilience and Early Treatment Dropout in a Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Facility” as his dissertation. He has numerous certifications in substance abuse treatment education. He was awarded the Marguerite Flake Academic Scholarship, May 2002.

On January 5, 1982, Dr. Harrison U. Igwe married Carrie Moore. Carrie, a special education teacher, and Dr. Igwe have three children: Ruthie, Lance, and Caleb.

In addition to his ARC responsibilities, Dr. Harrison U. Igwe held professional positions at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock located in Little Rock, Arkansas and Shorter College, North Little Rock, as an adjunct professor.

Dr. Harrison U. Igwe maintains high standards for himself as well as those he works with. He is a creative leader and excellent role model who is dedicated to his work.
