The A.R.C. Singers were first formed in 1996. In the beginning we were just a group of men who found themselves living in The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Detroit, Michigan caught up in the bondage of alcoholism and substance abuse.
At first anyone who wanted to sing in service on Sunday morning was permitted to join (what was then called) the choir. The choir was accompanied by recorded tracks and fluctuated from 12 to 30 members.
As time went on however the founders of the choir (Charles Champion, Evans Clark, Michael Williams, and Elbert Cook) desired to be more than just a group of volunteers. An effort was made to find men in the center who actually had musical talent and experience. From this search, the ARC Singers appeared. Now 9 vocalists and an accompanying 7 piece band.
Along with 2 Full Length cd’s, the A.R.C. Singers have performances that include: • Central Park located in New York, New York • Old Orchard Auditorium located in Old Orchard, Maine • National Anthem performance Pistons Basketball, Palace of Auburn Hills • National Anthem performance Detroit Tigers Baseball Comerica Park • Detroit Gospel Fest, Campus Martius Park located in Detroit, Michigan • Performance with Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Max Fisher Music Center source: A.R.C.
