2012 Event
The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is celebrating happily ever afters at the Romulus Women’s Center during the nonprofit’s annual Harvest of Blessings dinner and fashion show on Friday, Oct. 19. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and continue with a sit-down dinner at 7 p.m. provided by the nonprofit’s culinary arts program.

The highlight of the evening will come during a fairytale-themed fashion show emceed by WXYZ Reporter Erin Nicole and featuring twelve women currently enrolled in the women’s program. Each beneficiary will be dressed in attire from one of the 33 metro Detroit Salvation Army thrift stores, and themed to reflect one of the princess fairytale stories.

“The ladies who live at theRomulusfacility truly undergo a massive transformation while participating in our rehabilitation program,” Cheryl Miller, administrator of women’s and families ministries for The Salvation Army ARC. “The fairytale theme of the Harvest of Blessings fashion show is representative of the positive changes the women make to rebuild their lives on the journey to recovery.”

Throughout the evening, guests will be invited to take part in a silent auction of items donated by various local businesses and organizations, including a ticket package to the Detroit Zoo; tickets to a Detroit Pistons game; a boat ride on the Detroit Diamond Jack; a spa package; custom golf clubs; a selection of gift cards; and exclusive items from each of The Salvation Army’s 33 metro Detroit thrift stores.

All proceeds will directly benefit the nonprofit’s residential women’s rehabilitation center that first opened its doors in August 2011.

“The ultimate goal of the Harvest of Blessings event is to raise money to provide support for beneficiaries and their families,” said Merle Miller, administrator of The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center. “Since all of our ARC programs are independently-funded, this annual fundraiser plays a key role in continuing our ability to assist men and women looking to overcome their addictions.”

2009 Event
Mark your calendars, tickets are now on sale for The Salvation Army Southeast Michigan Adult Rehabilitation Center’s (ARC) fourth annual VIP dinner and fashion show October 29, 2009, at the Shenandoah Country Club in West Bloomfield.  The event, themed “A Harvest of Blessings,” will benefit the ARC’s Department of Performing Arts Program. Tickets start at $150 per person.

“We’re extremely blessed to have the sponsorship of Yono Properties, LLC which makes it possible for us to hold our fourth annual VIP dinner and fashion show,” said Merle Miller, ARC Administrator. “The ultimate goal of this year’s event is to raise money to assist us in expanding our Department of Performing Arts, which even in its very early stages has proven to be a healthy creative outlet, nurturing the emotional healing of the beneficiaries enrolled in our Adult Rehabilitation Center Program.”

Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and continue with a sit-down dinner at 7:00 p.m. The evening, with Joanne Purtan of WXYZ TV-7 serving as Celebrity MC, will also feature a fashion show with a fun and chic “Harvest of Blessings” theme featuring ‘Red Carpet Fashions’.  All clothing modeled will be from The Salvation Army’s 25 thrift stores in metro Detroit.

The purpose of “A Harvest of Blessings” is to encourage attendees to share their blessings and help the ARC provide, among other things, materials for props, along with recording and sound equipment for the Department of Performing Arts under development.  Mr. Masoud (Mike) Yono, President of Yono Properties, L.L.C. is serving as this year’s host.

Since 1926 the Salvation Army Southeast Michigan ARC has been dedicated to transforming drug and alcohol addiction through their 300-man residential rehabilitation program in Detroit.  Rooted in the Christian faith, the ARC offers substance abusers the opportunity to re-build their lives through a voluntary, self-help program designed to restore families and sobriety.  Since its inception more than 80 years ago, the ARC has provided help and hope to thousands of men whose lives were affected by substance abuse.

Completely self-funded, the ARC draws its entire operating budget from the revenue of the 25 Salvation Army Thrift Stores located in Southeast Michigan (meaning that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of donations made to the stores are used to make the miracle of rehabilitation possible.)  The planned development of the performing arts program will be put into effect as funding permits.
